Proposed netapp with ssp 2.0

    i have netapp san and i need to mak the ssp 2.0 intergrate with it so the user can create a luns and delete them.

     

    i installed NetApp ApplianceWatch PRO 2.1.1 which provide the powershell interface

    so where can get the scripts for that ?

    In ApplianceWatch PRO 2.1.1 instalaltion folder, you can find following scripts.

    ONTapCreateVM.txt
    ONTapCreateVMLocked.txt
    ONTapDeleteVM.txt
    ONTapDeleteVMLocked.txt

    Here is the additional information, you can also find in release notes of ApplianceWatch PRO 2.1.1.

    Creating an action script for creating and deleting virtual

    machines

    You can use System Center Virtual Machine Manager Self-Service Portal 2.0 to extend CreateVM

    and DeleteVM actions by invoking the rapid provisioning PowerShell scripts. These extending

    actions enable you to use rapid provisioning quickly and more efficiently.

    Before you begin

    You must have met System Center Virtual Machine Manager Self-Service Portal 2.0 requirements

    and have configured it for use with the scripts. For more information on using System Center Virtual

    Machine Manager Self-Service Portal on Microsoft web site.

     

    Steps

    1. In the Self-Service Portal, navigate to Self Service Portal Settings > Customize Virtual

    Machine Actions > MasterActionXML.

    2. Select CopyActionXML.

    3. Type the name for the new action script.

    Example

    For example, enter ONTapRapidProvisioning.

    4. To create a virtual machine action, navigate to CreateVM > Edit.

    5. Paste the ONTapCreateVM.txt content into the Script section of the edit window.

    6. Paste the ONTapCreateVMLocked.txt content into the LockedScript section.

    7. Set the options for the create action script.

    a. For the Successful Return Code, enter 0.

    b. Check the Timeout box and enter 9999.

    c. Uncheck the Continue on Error box.

    8. Click Save and Close.

    9. To delete a virtual machine action, navigate to DeleteVM > Edit.

    10. Paste the ONTapDeleteVM.txt content into the Script section of the edit window.

    11. Paste the ONTapDeleteVMLocked.txt content into the LockedScript section.

    12. Set the options for the delete action script.

    a. For the Successful Return Code, enter 0.

    b. Check the Timeout box and enter 9999.

    c. Uncheck the Continue on Error box.

    13. Click Save and Close.

    14. Navigate to Infrastructure > ServiceRole > Edit.

    15. From the Action XML drop-down list, select ONTapRapidProvisioning.

    This step ensures the use of the script during the CreateVM or DeleteVM action. This script name

    must match the name you used to create the script.

    Dear

    i downloaded the ApplianceWatch PRO 2.1.1

    but all of the txt files are not in the installation folder 

     

    can you please provide me with a link to get all of the txt files ?

    They are in the root of the installation folder on the server where you installed the ApplianceWatch management pack. Do a search on the server for the filename of one posted above.

    Worth noting that NetApp will be superceding ApplianceWatch with On Command 3 - it's currently in beta.

    Hi,

    i have follow the above steps but i need to know the exactly whats  going on inside the NetApp SAN  while Triggering these create VM command to SAN....because i don't see any command in the "ONTapCreateVM.txt" that provision the Volume/LUN in NetApp SAN.

    i need to know before run those pwershell scripts in our production enviroenment may be that would break anything in our production SAN.

    please help ...!!!!

    The default ONTAPCreateVM script will create a new LUN in the same Data ONTAP volume where your SCVMM library share resides.  We will then use sub-lun cloning to clone the template VHD from the library share into the new LUN.  This LUN will then be presented to the target Hyper-V host.

     

    Note that one LUN will be created per operation.

    Hi Alex,

    i am having this error while creating VM :

    "The term 'new-clone' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again."

    I m using Appliance Watch PRO.

     

    please help in this regard.
