I have a issue with client integration tools not working properly in FBA. If I enable "Client Integration" for FBA webapplication (Internet), We can not use Explorer option in List and Library. It is asking for login and password. Even I can not enable multiple upload option also, If I remove Client tools.

    User asking now:

Multiple upload document option. How to do this?

Some info here for you about FBA from my web site

Limitations of Forms Based Authentication (FBA)

    Integration with Microsoft Office 2007

Both Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS) and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS) services include significant integration with Microsoft Office 2007. However, some of these integration features are not available with Forms Based Authentication, the most noticeable of these being the ability to edit documents directly within the SharePoint environment. Users can still work with documents within SharePoint libraries, but they must save a copy of the document to disk first before editing it. Once all updates have been made, the document must be saved and then uploaded back into the SharePoint site.

Other integration features that are not available on with Forms Based Authentication are:

    • Support for remote interfaces - this includes WebDAV, SOAP and Microsoft Office FrontPage remote procedure calls (RPC). In addition, some other features are not available, i.e. Web folders and Web services for accessing content in the site
    • Some toolbar items are not available, i.e. 'New Document', 'Open in Outlook', 'Open In Windows Explorer', 'Export to Spreadsheet' and 'Open with Database Program'
    • Some views are hidden, i.e. the 'Explorer View' option and the 'Create an Access View' option
    • Some functionality within the picture libraries is not available, i.e. 'Upload Multiple', 'Edit Picture', 'Download' and 'Send To'
    • On the Edit Control Block (ECB) menu, some items within the drop-down menu are not available that appear when clicking on an item, i.e. 'Edit in Word', 'Edit in Excel', 'Edit in PowerPoint', 'Discuss' and 'Connect To Outlook'
    • Some functionality is removed from slide libraries, i.e. 'Publish Slide' and 'Send to PowerPoint'
    • The ability to sync SharePoint data with Microsoft Office Outlook is also not available

    Importing User Profiles

Forms Based Authentication does not provide built in functionality to import users and their attributes into the profile system of SharePoint. In order to import such data, a custom application is required that lists the users, their attributes and their role information, and then uses this to create or update profile data.

    Searching for Users and Roles

Many SharePoint users are accustomed to programs such as Microsoft Outlook in which they can type part of a name and then search to find any names that match. When searching for user's names within a Forms Based Authentication SharePoint site the same principle applies, however the functionality does not extend to searching for role provider names.

    Crawling Content

The ability to crawl content within a SharePoint site is restricted with Forms Based Authentication. Users can still set special cookie-based rules so that their SharePoint site(s) can be crawled, however this is only a simple crawl of content and does not capture security information or rich metadata which can be gathered with Windows Authentication.

    Hi Kevon,

    Same problem just started occurring

Search Server 2008 with SP2 June 09 update and client on IE7 and IE8 (both having Office 2007 SP2) will
NOT open a MS Word Document from FBA site.

FBA shows an authenticate.aspx loop is occurring.

We use all MS products and still not have compatibility.
