QuestionI only have the option to create Web Pages for my site

  • Monday, November 02, 2009 6:47 PMjawz101 Users MedalsUsers MedalsUsers MedalsUsers MedalsUsers Medals

    I can create:
    Web Pages

       Basic Page
       Web Part Page
       Sites and Workspaces

But I am unable to create:
    Libraries

       Document Library
       Form Library
       Wiki Page Library
       Picture Library

    Communications

       Announcements
       Contacts
       Discussion Board

    Tracking

       Links
       Calendar
       Tasks
       Project Tasks
       Issue Tracking
       Survey

    Custom Lists

       Custom List
       Custom List in Datasheet View
       Import Spreadsheet

... this is the 1st time I've seen this happen & this is a brand new WSSv3 sp2 install.  When I open my site, go to create the only options are for Basic Page, Web Part Page & Sites and Workspaces.  None of the other options are there.  My logs don't give any information.

Sounds like you have disabled a feature: Team Collaboration Lists

Go to Site Actions, Site Settings
In the Site Administration column click Site Features
Find Team Collaboration Lists and click Activate

Just did as you instructed.  It was actually already activated so I disabled it and then reactivated with no success.  I also ran the Sharepoint Products & Technologies wizard once more with no success.  Still gives me only the 3 aforementioned options

Interesting... I deactivated the feature and got the same list you now have. Reactivated and all is back. So that sounded like a good bet. Do you have another install that you can compare with? Especially the 12/TEMPLATE/Features folder. Hopefully someone else will chip in here...

I've compared it to a working, yet broken sharepoint instance & the folders are the same.  I've also used 2 utilities to check for broken features (faulty feature tool & wssanalyzefeatures ) & neither returned faulty results.  Also applied all cumulative updates up through october & nothing helped.

The only thing I can think of now is a permission issue- which I can't understand as I'm logged in as the site owner.

Are you the site collection administrator? If not, can the site collection administrator see all of the list types?

well, I just recreated my site & it's all working now.  Yes, I was site collection administrator but now it's all moot once I recreated everything.

well, unfortunately I tried a few days ago to add something new and was still presented with only those 3 options
