    Morning all,

Does anyone know if it is possible to create a site definition file from the top level site within a site collection?  I don't have access to SharePoint Designer on the machine I'm working on so thats not an option I'm afraid.  I can run STSADM commands though and am fairly comfortable with its use.  I've had a look on the net, via a few journals and am led to believe that what I'm after isn't easily achievable, if at all, but wanted to ask.

What I'm hoping to achieve is that I'm able to avoid recreating a site template from scratch as one of my collections needs to be redeployed.  I can go as granular as making .stp files of each list /library and moving those across, which could possibly be very time consuming.

I'm happy to field additional questions if anything is unclear.

    many thanks,
    Steven.
