QuestionSharepoint outgoing email display error

    I have WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007. A few weeks ago we changed the outgoing email address and everything appeared fine. Alerts were received from "Site Name [Intranet@dns.com]". Three days later this 'friendly' name stopped appearing and now all alerts are received only from "intranet@dns.com". Any idea what might have caused this display to change?

    Unless you have two completely different farms, you do NOT have "WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007". You have presumably MOSS 2007. Please say so in future.

    Follow below steps:

    Open Central Administration.
    Go to Operations.
    Click on Outgoing E-Mail Settings link [under Topology & Services].
    Change From Address value.
    Click on OK button.

    Hi kaustin,

     

    Could you please let me know more information on you farm configurations to begin investigation?

    1.       What is your SharePoint product version and edition?

    2.       What is your detailed Outgoing E-Mail Settings?

    3.       Does the Outgoing E-Mail Settings point to the local SMTP?

    4.       In the local SMTP, does the Outbound Security set to Anonymous access?

    5.       Do you using Exchange Server or other mail server?

    6.       Does your issue occurred in all the sites?

    7.       Could you please clarity if the mail sent by Alert Me feature but not the workflows or other customized solutions?

     

    Let me know the result if possible.
