    Hi everybody,

    For one of our client, I need to replace a SharePoint 2010 enterprise Product Key by an another (Enterprise too).
    From the Central Admin, in "Upgrade and Patch Management" section, if I click on "Convert farm license type" or "Enable Enterprise Features", all options are disabled ...

    It is not possible to reinstall the farm because of highly production and custom.

    I found this article : http://blogs.msdn.com/b/opal/archive/2011/01/18/what-can-happen-when-you-try-to-convert-a-standard-sharepoint-2010-farm-to-enterprise.aspx It allows to replace Standard product key by an another Standard PK, It doesn't work with Enterprise product key ...

    anybody have an idea ??

    Once you have entered an Enterprise key, SharePoint will not let you change it. This is to prevent a scenario where you install the Enterprise key, make use of enterprise features, and then "downgrade" to Standard. When this happens, the license for the Enterprise features is no longer valid and the use of these features is no longer supported. Generally, things would break. To prevent this specific scenario, Microsoft has made it so you cannot change an Enterprise key once entered.

    However, all is not lost. If indeed you had entered an Enterprise key and you wish to change it to another Enterprise key (I'm not clear why you have two), it doesn't really matter. Entering the key activates (unlocks) the enterprise features; your license isn't necessarily tied to the key that is entered in the farm. Provided you have the licensing documentation that supports a) the farm running with the enterprise license and b) sufficient Enterprise user and device CALs, you should be OK.

    Put another way: changing the key from Enterprise to Enterprise won't change anything in the SharePoint farm; your licensing documentation is what really matters.

    The problem was not technical but about license. (To be in good standing at a potential future control).
