Unanswered Audience Targetting not working even though audiences are compiling correctly

    I am having a problem with audience targetting. I can compile an audience fine. I t doesnt have any errors and it shows up the correct users assigned to that group.

    However when I assign the target audience to a Web Part or Navigational item, the web part just dissapears and is not shown, as if I am not actually in the group. I have checked and my user is deffinatly in the group which has compiled. I have even tried other users and on different computers.

    So far I have been unable to get audience targetting to work from the MOSS Farm, which is running all on Server 2008 (Virtual machines running on Hyper-V), whereas an older Farm running off 2003 has no problems with audience targetting.

    I saw another thread which advised me to change the SID of all the farm servers, which I have done but it hasnt made a difference.

    Any help would be very much appreciated.

    I have been looking through the logs and I am getting this error every time a user tries to view a page with a webpart on which has audience targeting enabled:

    GetUserAudienceIDs::GetUserAudienceIDs() : siteURL=http://wgs-moss-01:22201/ssp/admin GetUserAudienceIDs::GetUserAudienceIDs() : Retrieving user audience list has encountered an error. AccountName=OURDOMAIN\USERNAME, Error code = 8145

    Its like all the users are supposed to have access to something, which they dont currently.

    Any help please?

    I'v got the same problem ,can anyone help ?

    stsadm -o deletelist -url http://youdomain/yourListNameThatHasAPloblem/ -force

    you should be know what's list that has a ploblem by go to Show All Site Content menu on left navigation bar

    I am not having problems with a list. Im having problems with the audience targetting, and I believe its some problem with the MOSS server communicating with the SQL server. I cant work out how to fix this problem though.

    I'm seeing the same issue and have looked through all SQL& application log files.  I've not been able to find anything on what is causing the issue from an access/permission perspective.  Has anyone made any progress on this?

    I'm getting the same error trying to use the Datapolis SharePoint Column Protector product on my site. The product works on a different site collection however. I imagine the product uses audience targeting to hide information in list views, but I'm not sure of the cause of the issue.

    I am not sure if we have got the same problem, but I believe we have got to the bottom of our problem.

    Both audiences have compiledI can search for users, change rules and recompile.

    Audience 1

    • Rule1 - account name contains......mydomainXX\
    • Rule2 - account name contains......mydomainYY\
    • Rule3 - account name contains......mydomainZZ\

    CONTAINS 5600 Users

    This audeince compiles and targets content to our users correctly......but if I create another audience, using the same rule 1  ---- a conflict seems to occurs and both audiences fail to trim content.......

    Audience 2

    • Rule1 - account name contains......mydomainXX\

    Contains 1000 Users

    So it appears I cannot use the same rules in different audiences......if someone has a work around or any literature outlining this problem - please post
