MOSS log readers won't open log file?

I'm trying to view one of the C:\...\12hive\logs\12.log files. I've downloaded SharepointLogViewer.exe and SharepointLogReader.exe (and a couple others), and tried to open the 12.log file in them. SharePoint Log Reader v2.0 gives me an hourglass for around 10 sec and then nothing, no data displayed, displaying 0/0 items. SharePoint LogViewer gives me the silverlight hourglass for a second and then nothing. The file is 800KB, with plenty of data in it. not sure why it's coming up blank.
Tried opening it through the File > Open buttons and through drag and drop. I've also wondered if it was a permissions issue, so I copied the 12.log to my desktop and tried to open from there, same result.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi scogordo,
I download the SharepointLogViewer.exe and SharepointLogReader.exe , and can use them to successfully open the log files under 12\LOGS on both Windows 7 and Windows Server 2003.
Re-download them and check whether can open other log files.
You can check your 800k log file whether can be opened by Notepad or Notepad++ , whether it is corrupt.
And you can check whether it can work using ULS Viewer instead.

Hi,
Try using a text editor such as notepad. Even if it is not working then I would suggest you to install LogParser 2.2 write a query and gather the data aina csv file. THis will be then more easy for you to work.
I hope this will help you out.
Thanks, Rahul Rashu
