WSS 3.0: Upgrade SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005
- Hi,
I have WSS 3.0 databases installed on SQL Server 2000.
Now I'm planning to upgrade the server (stay in the same machine, same name, same instances..) to SQL Server 2005.
Is there anything I should do regarding SharePoint? Or SharePoint is smart enough? :)
Thanks

Hi,
I would suggest you to disconnect the SQL server from the farm and then do the upgrade. There are two ways of doing the SQL upgrade..
1>in-place upgrade
2> side -by - side upgradeI guess, you will be going ahead with in-place upgrade. Once this is done, you just connect the SQL server back to the farm and it should work fine without any issues.

Hi
I agree with ssm225in.
Besides upgrading from SQL server 2000 to 2005 on the same server, you don’t need to do anything regarding WSS 3.0.
By the way, please be aware that always perform a backup before any upgrade action being executed.

- It's smart enough but it's a procedure with many steps.See thishttp://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com/Lists/v3%20WSS%20FAQ/DispForm.aspx?ID=138"Databases: How do you move a WSS 3.0 database to a different SQL Server? "with info on how (and when) to detach and attach the databases etc.

Complete Book Lists (incl. foreign language) on each site. - I'm not moving the database. I'm simply upgrading SQL Server from 2000 to 2005 and wondering if that will have an impact on SharePoint
