    while reviewing event viewer,we have found two entries as the following :-

    Event Category: E-Mail
    Event ID: 6872
    Date:  11/3/2009
    Time:  3:18:45 PM

    Computer: WFE2
    Description:
    A critical error occurred while processing the incoming e-mail drop folder . The error was: Value cannot be null.

    is it error associated with incoming e-mail setting or it is a result of any other setting?
    Note:our topology(2WFE,1Index,2DB)

    Give WSS_ADMIN_WPG and WSS_WPG full control to C:\Inuetpub\mailroot\drop

    Hi Ahmed Madany,

     

    I agree with RMAKR that it is a permission issue. You can go to “Central Administration” à “Operations à “Incoming Email Settings” to check the location for the email drop folder. By default it is c:\inetpub\mailroot\drop. Try to change from “Automatic” mode to “Advanced” mode and enter the location of the drop folder. Then as RMAKR said give WSS_ADMIN_WPG and WSS_WPG full control to this folder.

    yes, this is related to incoming email configuration
    Please review your SMTP settings on SharePoint
