I just want the one site that belongs to that Category to be visible. For each project I need document libraries, teams of people working on them, accouncements, etc.<br/><br/>Now, from an access permission perspective, each business should see their own project information. They should also be able to create their own projects and assign Readers, Approvers and Contributors to these projects.<br/><br/>My experience with SharePoint is limited, but from what I have seen so far is that any changes I make to a group (adding/deleting users) seems to always affect the entire site collection, nut just a single site. So if I add somebody to the Readers group that that person is a reader for the whole site collection. Right?<br/><br/>If that is the case then the most logical conclusion for me would be to create a separate Site Collection per project? That way people can add/remove users independantly of the other projects. I cannot see any way of doing this if projects are Sites?<br/><br/>One of the problems I am facing is that you can only create site collections through the Central Admin. I don't want to give general users access to the Central Admin so they can create a new project. They should be able to just simple create a new project as if it was a folder.<br/><br/>Is that possible? I did the install and configuration all using a farm account(SPFarm) which is a domain account and also an admin of the web server machine. This farm account also is used for the web application pool for the central admin IIS web site, the ssp admin IIS Site, and the web application for the site collections and sites I am creating in SharePoint.<br/><br/>After configuring, I added my personal domain account to the Farm Administrators group using Central Admin. This account is also an admin of both the web server and SQL Server machines. <br/><br/>When I log in to the Central Admin site using my personal domain account and create a new site collection(for example a Report Center), making myself the primary site collection administrator, it creates the site collection just fine. When I then navigate to the top level site of the site collection, select View All Site Content and then look at any of the items in the lists and libraries that have been created, they all say created by &quot;system account&quot;. When I look at the system account is says that it is created by my personal domain account with a timestamp of the time I created the site collection. <br/><br/>I would have expected all the items in the lists and libraries to say modified by my personal domain account.
