QuestionAfter Installation of SP2: No sorting & grouping of Business Data Columns?

    Hi,

after the installation of the MOSS 2007 Service Pack 2, columns of type "Business Data" (that represent data of type System.String) are not sortable resp. groupable anymore when creating views in Document Libraries. Data is displayed correctly, but you cannot make a sort/filter/group on the column anymore.

Before the installation of this famous service pack, I had no problems using the sorting and grouping of this columns.

Does anybody made the same experience or is there a workaround?

    With kindly Regards,

    Jm Aalen.

I'm currently experiencing the same...  Haven't figured it out.  I also seeing a problem where I can't filter by BDC data of string types, but I can filter BDC data of number types. Are you seeing the same?

    Hello Andy,

Yes, in my case I just have got these problems with data of type "string". BDC Data of type "boolean" and "number" (integer) works fine for me, they are sortable and I can create views by filtering or grouping these columns.

I have been looking for hours on the web, but did not find any information about this "new" behaviour.

    Regards,

    Jm Aalen.

    Hello All,

We are currently experiencing the same problem.
We are searching the entire web for a solution but without success at the moment.
If you find something about this issue please let me know (the same for me :-) )

I opened a ticket on this incident on Oct 14.  Microsoft could reproduce the problem and confirmed that the problem did not occur until SP2 was installed.  I was not given a time or date for a hotfix.  My support technician did not give me any indication of when it may be completed.  In fact he mentioned that they have not determined whether or not they will build a hotfix for the problem.

I received a call from Microsoft tech support today.  It is a problem, but there is no eta on a hot fix, service pack, or work around.  They are closing the ticket.
