QuestionCannot reuse list name for KPI Lists

I am running into this issue on MOSS 2007 SP2:

    1) Create a team site.
    2) Create a KPI List called "testkpi".
    3) Confirm that you receive the message "There are no KPIs" in the list view of the KPI list.
    4) Add a KPI to confirm you can see it in the list.
    5) Delete "testkpi" list.
    6) Recreate "testkpi" list.

At this point, you no longer receive the "There are no KPIs" message in the list view.  Instead you receive the following error:
"Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) display important measures for your organization, and show how your organization is performing with respect to your goals. This Web Part is not configured with KPI list."

Adding items to the list do not display them in the list, though they do exist.  Thinking it might have been a duplication issue, we tried clearing out the first- and second-stage recycling bins between steps 5 and 6 above with the same results.

    Any ideas?
