    Hi,

We have a cube developed in SSAS.
We have a need to source this cube on a sharepoint server and define some KPIs on share point.
Is there a way in which this can be achieved without using PPS?

    Thanks in advance
    Bhavana

    Hi,

Maybe you could try the approach I have read on Richard Lee's website using Excel Services as a cube browser. I tried this in a demo environment, and it worked: http://richardlees.blogspot.com/2009/09/which-cube-browser-for-microsoft-olap.html
The bottom line is: You create an Excel workbook containing a pivot table accessing your SSAS cube, the workbook is published to MOSS via Excel Services, and you embed the Excel Services workbook in one or several pages.

[You might have to configure Kerberos delegation in order to be able to drill down in the pivot table.]

    Best regards,

    Armin

    Hi Bhavana,

Here is a PerformancePoint Team blog post on the topic:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/performancepoint/archive/2009/01/26/creating-pps-kpis-based-on-ssas-kpis.aspx

Also, if you go to my blog site: Jason Morales' BI Update
Scroll down to the Resources section
Click the link for "Using BI Features" under SharePoint Server subsection
You'll find Microsoft demos for a different approach to presenting KPIs within SharePoint.

    Best Regards,
    Jason
