It might have been a hotfix that was included in the August updates. You should also check to see if now that you have SP2 and the April updates applied, that you can export a site, import it, and still edit the items that you create. If not, then you are probably experiencing a different issue.
Mon, 29 Jun 2009 14:30:37 Z2009-06-29T14:30:37Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointcollaboration/thread/2a5786b1-de23-424a-b71d-b39e88be7c76#8c9ce85b-2898-4eab-84b9-d755de26a0cchttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointcollaboration/thread/2a5786b1-de23-424a-b71d-b39e88be7c76#8c9ce85b-2898-4eab-84b9-d755de26a0ccshobvahttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=shobvaAugust Cumulative update (or later) and a site that has been exported/imported causes access denied to edit.aspx pagesI did the export/import still no luck.Mon, 29 Jun 2009 19:41:15 Z2009-06-29T19:41:15Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointcollaboration/thread/2a5786b1-de23-424a-b71d-b39e88be7c76#f3fed93a-5f93-46bd-8fd2-c70a024d9d9bhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointcollaboration/thread/2a5786b1-de23-424a-b71d-b39e88be7c76#f3fed93a-5f93-46bd-8fd2-c70a024d9d9bDavid Biskuphttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=David%20BiskupAugust Cumulative update (or later) and a site that has been exported/imported causes access denied to edit.aspx pages
Ok. I'm sorry for going back and forth, but I want to make sure this is correct.

On a site that has never been imported from somewhere else (like a newly created site), create a list and add an item to it. Verify that you can edit that item. If that works, then export the site. Import it to a new location.
