Disable Client Integration - Still tries to open with Office Client
We have disabled Client Integration on one of our web applications. This is because we don't login to a domain and we login to Novell. We have had many challenges getting integration to work so we disabled. I thought that disabling would automatically make Office documents open in the web browser.

I am seeing strange things and was wondering if anyone else has seen any of these issues.

In IE 6 with Office 2k3-
When opening Office 2003 documents it launches browser (which is what we want)
Office 2k7 documents launch client (no login prompts)

In IE 7 with Office 2k7-
Opening 2k3 or 2k7 documents opens office client but displays a login prompt. If I hit cancel the doc still opens.

What we would like is for IE to always open documents and never launch the Office Client. I have disabled Client Integration at the Web app level and also at the doc library level I have selected to use Display as a web page in the Browser-enabled Documents section within advanced settings. Any suggestions!

EmilyBen© 2009 Microsoft Corporation. Still tries to open with Office ClientNo I am not on Vista. After some testing I have come up with:

When accessing a sharepoitn site from a computer with Office 2k3 and IE 6 I get the file to open fine within the IE window.
When accessing from Office 2k7 with IE7 the file gets opened with the client if it exists regardless of Client Integration or not.

The initial issue is still existing but we have bypassed it in QA and PRD by using iChain/SSL and dns. So as long as we are using some type of similar sign on we have no issues with the multiple logins.

But we still see the client opening. I guess its not a big deal but I thought with Office Integration disabled everything would automatically open in IE window.
EmilyBenMon, 15 Jun 2009 18:24:19 Z2009-06-15T18:24:19Z
