Can you bulk amend parts of sites afterwards ?
Our client has an Axapta system (3rd party) through which they manage their users. The users can be members of different communities (over 100). They use the Axapta system to automatically create a Meeting Workspace for each community in a SharePoint site collection and add the users to groups of these workspaces. To create the workspaces I have provided them with a site template.
From time to time they might want the layout of the sites to change and they need to apply these changes to all the sites that have already been created. I could create a new template with the new layout, but as I found until now there is no way to apply templates to existing sites, just to newly created sites.
Is there any other way to update pages layout, groups and lists settings and permissions in existing sites, but not mess up the existing items and documents in lists and libraries?

- Yes, you have an option to 'Reset to site defenition' at Site Actions- Site settings-
The reset to site defenition will bring back all the customizations done to the site. You have the option to choose the master page to which you have to reset at Master Page settings also.
You can find details on the customizations by opening the site using sharepoint designer.

- I don't think its possible to reset a template after creating ( in 2010 i think we can, where templates are WSP solutions), but in case of site layout if you mean the site design and structure the master pages can play some trick but not to much extend what you are trying to acheive.
But regarding the group permissons and list settings it will be hard to acheive. ( I THINK)
Regards, Aj (http://www.ajittgeorge.blogspot.com) MCTS - Thank you, Mike, for the correction. The thing is that I am working on a SharePoint installation that is in Danish and I have just started to learn the language so I am a little bit confused about the terminology. Needless to say that I am not actually a SP expert. My main task is to create web parts and aspx templates so I'm more or less hacking things when it comes to administration.
However, the client came up with this request to be able to control multiple sites at once. There must be a way to do this. It would be insane to have to perform a modification to over 100 sites manually.
Hey, Ajith. So the templates can not help me. What about site definitions? I've seen that you have an option to reset a site to its site definition. If I perform a structural modification, can I replace that and reset the site? And do you know where I can get some clear documentation on site definitions? Can I control which web parts are displayed and their layout through a site definition? - Yes, you have an option to 'Reset to site defenition' at Site Actions- Site settings-
