Meeting Workspaces in WSS 3.0 and Outlook 2003
Meeting Workspaces in WSS 3.0 and Outlook 2003
- Hi, we have WSS 3.0 and PCs with Outlook 2003. We have been able to create meeting workspaces in Sharepoint, but I have seen that it is possible to create meeting workspaces in Outlook 2003. But when creating a new appointment in an outlook 2003 calendar, there is no meeting workspace button like described in the help guides.
Is there something I am doing wrong, does Outlook pointing to my Sharepoint site somehow?
thanks alotAn example of the button I don’t see is in this video

- Hi,
meeting workspace is a type of site.
integrating whole site with outlook doesnt seems to be possible.
what is possible is integrating ur calender (which will contain all data regarding meeting etc) with the calender in the meeting workspace site.
ullasjoshi - Thanks for your reply, how can i intergrate my calendar in Outlook 2003 with a meeting workspace site? I have one setup
Is there a setting somewhere I need to change?

or directly jump in to the link, which explains how to connect outlook to meeting work space calender

this is moss feature but i wonder wether this will work in wss 3.0 or not.
ullasjoshi - As the earlier poster wrote, you can not integrate your calendar in Outlook 2003 with a meeting workspace site.
---------------
There are two ways of creating a site based on the meeting workplace template.
One way is to create a new site when in SharePoint and choosing the Meeting Workspace/workplace kind of site. This site has then nothing at all to do with Outlook.
The other way is to when in Outlook create a meeting (and specify people who are to be at that meeting). When it comes to saving the meeting you can specify that the meeting should be stored in SharePoint. In that case a Meeting Workspace/Workplace site is created for that meeting and with the people who you specified when creating the meeting specified as users of that Meeting Workspace site.
--------------
Otherwise the only connection between an Outlook Calendar and a SharePoint *Calendar* is that a SharePoint Calendar can also be specified as being also stored in Outlook. Then you have two calendars in Outlook. The Outlook calendar and one or more SharePoint Calendars taken from the Calendar List in different SharePoint sites.
If you have Outlook 2007 these two copies are two-way synchronizable. But as you have Outlook 2003 they are only one-way synchronizable.
I'm assuming you have WSS 3.0 or MOSS 2007 - if you have only WSS 2.0 or SPS 2003 even with Outlook 2007 they are only one-way synchronizable.
