ECTS - page cannot be displayed

So I setup ECTS on WSS using the deployment manual but there must be something wrong. When I try to login with an external user I get the good ol 'The page cannot be displayed' error right after I click login. This is what the address bar is trying to go to
https://sitename/_layouts/ExternalCollaboration/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f
Not sure what is going on here, it seems like it's a permissions issue to me, but I can't figure out why it would be breaking. I can log in fine on the internal site. Hopefully someone has some ideas on this, because I'm out. Thanks!

Open a new browser session and type the full path of a site where the external user has been provisioned, i.e. something like http://extranet.company.com/sites/collabx.
You should then be redirected to the logon page with a return URL back to the site. It doesn't work if you try to go directly to the login page because the redirect is invalid.

I had the same problem, went to IIS Manager , right click on external web site. Properties and assign the ip address. This worked for me.
