    Hi,
My question is that I want to configure sharepoint search on subsite level so that each subsite can search only there content.

    I am using MOSS 2007.

Right now i have a configuration at top level site which searches content from all the sub sites but i want to restrict it to subsite level.

Please let me know the fesiablity of this senario.

    Thanks,
    Amit

    Hi Amit,

In MOSS 2007, you can custom the search scope and add it to the search drop down box. Please follow the steps below:

    1.         Go to SSPà “Search Settings”à “View Scopes”

    2.         Click “New Scope” and enter the title and description of this scope for example: “subsite”.

    3.         Click “OK”

    4.         Click “Add rules” of “subsite” on the view scope page

    5.         Choose “Web Address”

    6.         On “Web Address” tab, choose “Folder” and enter the subsite URL

    7.         Click “OK”

    8.         Go back to “View Scopes” page, click “refresh” and wait till the update status of “subsite” is “Ready”

    9.         Do a full crawl

    10.     Go to the site collection and click “Modify all site settings” à “Search Scopes”

    11.     Click “Search drop down” and add the newly created scope “subsite”

    12.     Click “OK”

Now on the top level site, you can also search content from this specific sub site.
