Searching file shares
Searching file shares
- I joined a webinar earlier today and they quickly demonstrated creating file share indexes (amongst other things, such as indexing your Intranet server) to make it searchable via WSS/MOSS.
I've not seen where in the app I can generate these indexes? Can someone help?

- Indexing a file share required a MOSS server and it is quite easy to set up. Go to your Shared Services Provider -> Search Administration -> Content Sources. Create a new content source, choose file share and enter the path to the file share. You then need to perform a full crawl. Also make sure that your default content access account (specified on the main search admin page) has read permissions granted on your file share.
