Answered VPN Browsing and Speed

Until recently I had configured PPTP and L2TP. They were ending at the different devices (PPTP - SBS 2011, L2TP - Zyxel USG 100 ) I have now strange behavior, I can connect and browse for some folders but not larger (by size) . To be even stranger some client can browse and some cannot.

So I installed SSTP to avoid different ports that needs to be opened, and it takes longer time to load and display folders than PPTP and L2TP. I saw that sometimes this slow behavior can cause NOD32 antivirus , mine is AVIRA.

Can someone please help. I read that this can be because of MTU. Do I need to change MTU on both SBS and Zyxel or client side ?

    Thanks

After some testing here are the results:

L2TP, IPsec, they behave the same (tunnels terminates one device - Zyxel USG 100 ). I can connect to the remote location, I am able not to browse folders (I don't know what happened but this problem disappeared, sometimes I was not able to browse just bigger folders) but I have a problem with copy paste (but just for files larger than - 1 MB, if I try to copy shortcut I can do that without the problem), windows starts calculating ..... and nothing. If I use FTP software this goes without the problem.

Sometimes like now I managed to transfer picture file 2.5MB but it took about 5 min to do that.

Also deleting files >1MB takes ethernity.

So if FTP is working but windows copy paste not , that means that tunnel in total is OK and there is a problem with SMB. Am I right ?

Please help, this problem is killing me...

    Thanks

On the client machine I have Avira and on the server there is no antivirus, but that is virtual machine (but PPTP doesn't have any similar problems).

    Thanks
