Hi - have a recent install of a SBS-2011 Standard and trying to get my fax service up and running, but the Wizard stops working and give me the "check online for a solution -or- close the program" prompt.

I have a USR Robotics external modem installed, recognized under Device Manager, and showing up under SBS Console > Networking > Device tab. The fax "service" is starting OK. But when I click to "Configure the Fax Service" I get the stopped working pop-up.

I started the Console in Advanced mode and ran the "Repair the Fax Service", but never do get a successfully repaired type response, so not sure if that's actually working or not.

I'm attaching the FaxCW.log file that I captured prior to opening this thread. This is a bit above my current pay-grade in deciphering, so looking for any guidance on where to take this next, if anyone can assist...Thanks much.

All I am able to figure out from these lines is

"Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.GetListsWithCallback(String bstrUrl, Guid foreignWebId, String bstrListInternalName, Int32 dwBaseType, Int32 dwBaseTypeAlt, Int32 dwServerTemplate, UInt32 dwGetListFlags, UInt32 dwListFilterFlags, Boolean bPrefetchMetaData, Boolean bSecurityTrimmed, Boolean bGetSecurityData, Boolean bPrefetchRelatedFields, ISP2DSafeArrayWriter p2DWriter, Int32& plRecycleBinCount)"

When you are running the fax wizard you are selecting the option to store the fax in sharepoint library or a list which do not exist any more and that's where it fails.

    Thanks Mohitkapoor, for assisting.

Not sure if this is of value, but this is a SBS2003 > SBS2011 migration project, with everything working currently except for this Fax Center.

I don't have all my notes with me right now since it's the weekend, but I did have trouble with the companyweb during the migration, in that it did not work on the new SBS2011 server upon first testing. I restored the companyweb.bak file I had off the 2003 server, and that is now working. There was also a faxcenter.cmp file that I had off the 2003 server, that I honestly wasn't sure exactly what that file was for, or if I restored that correctly. This migration was a "Swing Migration" procedure that I followed by sbsmigration.com. But trying to recall from memory, once I did the steps as outlined on the .cmp file, the "fax center" was showing on the main page of the companyweb. Again, not sure if any of this detail is of value on this particular issue.

But I will say, the Wizard fails immediately when I start it. I never get to a point of selecting any options.

, but I did have trouble with the companyweb during the migration, in that it did not work on the new SBS2011 server upon first testing. I restored the companyweb.bak file I had off the 2003 server, and that is now working --- Does a blank Companyweb without migrated data works?  As I said earlier as well  reason for fax crashing is due to sharepoint.

This migration was a "Swing Migration" procedure that I followed by sbsmigration --  What I have heard in forums (though never used it) sbsmigration.com procedures are fully supported by the people providing them , have you contacted them?

Not on this particular issue with the fax service, but did work with them on the companyweb issue.

I will run this by them. Happened upon threads here so thought I'd give this a try as well. Will post a followup here when get this resolved as a courtesy.

    Thanks for assisting -
