    im trying to setup time warners smtp server as my email forwarder in sbs 2011 ... however it wont let me enter the servers address ....

    smtp-server.hvc.rr.com ......

    it just gives me an error message

    Hi,

    Before going further, would you please provide more detailed information about the error message? Regarding the current issue, it would be a question better asked of Time Warner support.  In my own area, however, you can simply relay your mail through their SMTP server.  As long as you meet their terms of service, their server will happily forward any mail you send.  I suggest an SPF record granting any server they authorize to send for their domain to also be allowed to send for your domain.

    the time warner smtp server name was not being accepted .... I was forwarding emails for 7 years using other SBS versions but when I went to 2011 it wouldnt work ....

    any case I did fix it ...

    I used the SMTP IP address instead of smtp-server.hvc.rr.com

    now emails are being delivered
