A client is thinking about buying SBS2011 and wants to know if SBS2011 (and Exchange Server that comes with it can)...
- Allow for all their PCs, Macs, tablets (iPads, Androids, Win7/8), phones (iPhones, Androids, Blackberrys, Windows) to have access to shared contacts lists for all of their employees (and have this info dynamically update when anything is changed)
- The President of this company is concerned that some contacts shouldn't be shared with every employee (so what they really want is MOST contacts shared with all employees)

Impossible to say for sure on the first question without specific info as to every device, every mfg, every OS version and the kind of internet connection and data plan they use. But the general answer is yes.
As to the second, you can give users or groups permissions to each folder, and thereby limit some users access to some folders and therefore some contact. But you cannot limit some users to some contacts in the same folder while giving them access to other contacts in the same folder.

So, if the shared contacts are put in a public folder how do those contacts make it to a iPhone, Android, etc?

^ Just to qualify my last post...
If I'm in Outlook and create a public shared contact list (housed by Exchange Server), how does that shared contact list make it to my iPhones, Androids?

yes, and what i get are basically apps or programs that i need to add to accomplish this goal. my question is more about if exchange server can, natively, push contacts in a exchange server public folder, to phones. that's what i can't find and need clarification on.

I believe you will need a third party app for this.
