Beantwortet SBS 2011 Essentials BPA error: A resource record points to an incorrect IP address

  • Friday, January 25, 2013 3:35 PM

I started getting this error from BPA yesterday.  Nothing had been changed prior to this happening and there are no obvious issues with the server despite the error.

The error says "The host (A) record points to an incorrect IP address"  without suggesting what the wrong address or which record.

The resolution says "Remove the host (A) record for active directory domain of the server in the forward lookup zone."

I had a look there and I see an A record there as below

    server-name         Host(A)      192.168.1.13     static

Is this the record I should remove?   The IP address is correct.

I was going to paste in a screen capture but it won't let me as it says I'm not verified.

As you might guess I'm not a server expert, thats why we got SBS 2011 essentials.

    Any suggestions welcomed

    Donald

Upload a screen shot of IPCONFIG /ALL , DNS Zone and the BPA to skydrive and post a link.

It seems links are also banned until my account is verified and I've no idea how that happens.

there are images here if you fill in the blanks

Did you just sign up for a live ID? usually you get an email to verify you own the account.

Well, i just found the same issue on my own Essentials box - it may be a bug.

    Sit tight.

    Thanks for your replies.

Well there doesn't seem to be any problems at the moment despite the error on this box.  I did sign up with a new Microsoft account to log on here and I did get a verification email which I confirmed so not sure why it still thinks I'm not verifired :-(

Have you got RRAS installed on the SBS2011e server?  Are we back to the same issue that was found in the SBS 2008 BPA:

No, don't have RRAS installed, also, the error message doesn't give any specific IP addresses.

I suspect it is significant that this error only appeared after an update to BPA was automatically installed on 23rd Jan.
