    Could you explain your reasoning for wanting to do this, as imo there is no really good reason to do so, and it can complicate system recovery if the SBS fails completely.

    I asked because my friend  has already  essential 2011 and server 2008r2 software thats is the reason exactly.

    I know from sbs 2011 premium packet you can use server 2008r2 as  a second domain controller so you can replicate your data on second server,

     so why do you thing if you install server 2008r2 on essential 2011 as a second domain controller that it can complicate the system recovery , can you give me some reasons.

    Any multi DC environment can become complex in the event of recovery being required.

    Just be sure that you are not solely relying on disk image backups and have system state backups of your domain controllers in addition to any backup.

    Built in Windows backup on the SBS will handle that for you.
