I have an issue with database mail.I have given the profile name as test backup and the account name as test_backup.Everything is working fine. When I send an email I want to add the description to my from address like SQL ALERTS_servername.Rightnow I am having only SQL ALERTS.I have added this description to my profile. It is working fine when I send the test mail to my email address,But I am not getting this description when I am sending to group email. Please note that the email address I have provided in the database mail is same as the group email.

Try to send out an email using msdb.dbo.sp_send_dbmail to a gmail or hotmail address and check if you got the description. If so then check with your SMTP Administrator because it could be removing the description from the incoming emails
