    I'm getting the following error when installing SQL Server 2008 R2 Express or 2012 Express.

    I've tried four different files.

    SQL Server 2012 Express (x86, x64)

    SQL Server 2008 Express (x86, x64)

    And The following error occurs when installing the package.
    SqlBrowserConfigEngAction_install_ConfigNonRC_Cpu32

    Hello,

    Please stop any security software or antivirus software/suite before running SQL Server setup. I have seen this error related to security software stopping SQL Server from installing successfully.

    If the issue continues after you stop security software from running, please share with us SQL Server setup logs. Use the following article to locate them:

    You can choose your Public folder on Skydrive to share the files with us.

    Hi DATAKENT,

    Based on the error message, I suggest checking whether there is any components installed via “Programs and features”, if so, please remove them and install SQL Server Express again. Additionally, you can try to change the instance name when installing SQL Server Express. You can also refer to the following link:
