New to SQL Question on Date Syntax

Sunday, February 17, 2013 5:33 AMI'm brand new to SQL and am learning quite a few things on the go. I'm struggling with date syntax. This is in DB2, and I'm trying to find a syntax that says essentially "month to date" and something I can easily change out with a date range, which I'm also not sure how to type in. the >= functions I cannot get to stick for some reason.

What should be the input and what the desired output of a "month to date" function? What is your problem with the comparison operator >=?
