    Hi all,
As per my understanding by reading articles in internet,MDS is useful when multiple application(departments in organisation) are accessing the same master data.
But when we have only one department and master data data sources are different( some master data coming from one source and another one is from another source like etc,.),in this scenario will MDS is use full? Or any other major advantage of using MDS?

    Thanks in advance

Absolutely.  Whenever there are multiple data sources in an environment, there is typically some overlap in the entities (ex. Customer, Product, Supplier, etc). In this scenario, MDS can be used to manage the values for each entity across all data sources in the enterprise.  DQS will aid in the process of combining the values from each system (remove duplicates, clean up, etc).

The value is realized when new applications are built/added to the environment, because they can now use MDS.  Over time, as legacy systems are retired, eventually there will be a stable-state where all systems are using clean and managed data from MDS.  Existing applications can be updated to use data from MDS...but that needs to be determined on a case by case basis to make sure the benefit outweighs the cost.

    Hello,

It is hard to answer your question. But I recommend you refer to the following article to get started with SQL Server Master Data Services:
Getting Started (Master Data Services): http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee633731(v=sql.105).aspx

Master Data Services (MDS) is the SQL Server solution for master data management. Master data management (MDM) describes the efforts made by an organization to discover and define non-transactional lists of data, with the goal of compiling maintainable master lists. SQL Server MDS provides a central data hub that ensures the integrity of information and consistency of data is constant across different applications. This is why we need Master Data Services.

Here is an article for your reference, please see:
