Using either VS 2008 or VS 2012 Express, per the attached link how do I create a new .NET Windows Control Library project for the custom COM conflict resolver.

Below is a screen shot of the Visual Studio 2008 installed on my PC.

It doesn't seem like you have many project templates installed.  You may need to install Visual Basic Express Edition or Visual C# Express Edition to get the required project templates.  From there you can use the Class Library project template.

Yes, although, I have not tried this in 2012 yet, ymmv.

So, should which earlier Express edition version is the tried and true version, and where can I get it.

    Thanks,

Instead of going down this path of a com-based resolver, have you considered avoiding the conflicts altogether?

The reason I ask is because you are unlikely to get much help with a com-based resolver from MS.  Also, it seems to be a little outside of your skill set.

For my records, what is the specific reason why it would be hard to find help with a com-based resolver.

What kind of background is required to develope the COM based resolver.

My counterparts here are against any restrictions on writing to our database. I'm pretty sure they'll go with one of the default conflict resolution schemes and hope for the best.

Personally, I'd like to get a make-believe custom COM conflict resolution example working for our system (using a make believe database) if I can. I will then be able to tell my peers I have researched all facets of the problem.

But, if you think it unwise I could switch to the Business Logic Handler resolver instead. How much .Net experience does that require. Do you think I, personally, should drop both schemes and leave it to someone else to continue, if necessary.

Will either of my above setups for Visual Studio allow me to create the Business Logic Handler resolver. Would the setups block me. I.E.: Do my current VS environments have all the requirements to continue developing the BLHR.

    Thanks,

Database Replication - for the level of support you need, I do not believe a public forum is best for you.

I would urge you to open up a support incident with Microsoft Customer Support on this and similar matters.

My understanding was the COM based resolvers are not longer supported. Apparently there is some level of support. Microsoft really is the only entity who can help you with these and similar issues.
