Answered SSRS Grouping Pane

I've created a report that includes groups, but when I go to the grouping pane, the group information is not listed.  (Nothing is, it just says Row Group and Column Group).  The advanced mode option shows, but changing it does not produce the groups that I have setup on the report.

I've uninstalled SQL2008, Reinstalled it (yeah, that was about as much fun as a gut full of pinworms) and installed SP1 to vs2008.  Nothing has changed, though.  I still can't get to the groups to be able to tell them to print on each page.

    Anyone? Anyone?   Anyone?

    Hi

Send a screenshot and version of SSRS you use (2005 is different to 2008).

Meanwhile you can also try ssrs tutorial it might contain exact answer but you might find things that will help to do it.

    Emil,

Thanks for the response.  Nice tutorial page.  It's wonderful that you guys make this informaiton available to others.

My issue isn't writing the report, I've written many.  It's that my computer crashed, and when rebuilt, the grouping pane contains no details about the groups on the rport.  Here's a screenshot to show what I'm talking about.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled SQL2008 added sp2, and loaded the latest service pack for vs2008 (sp1).  Unfortunately, the grouping pane still doesn't contain the information needed.  (Report builder 2.0 does, but it is a dreadful tool)

    Hi John,

    Thanks for your posting.

From your description, the issue may occur if the Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) component was corrupt during the operating system crash. At this time, I suggest that we repair the BIDS feature to see if it works. For the detailed information, please see:
