Hi
I'm trying to install powerpivot with sharepoint integration mode on a server using sql server 2012 installation wizard.
I type in a domain user name and password and I get the error message :
The credentials you provided for analysis services service are invalid. To continue, provide a valid account and password for analysis services service.
Error result: -2068578304
Result facility code: 1204Any ideas on how to get around this problem?
I changed my password to s a strong type password. It made no difference.
The server is a domain member server.

Make sure the account used to start SQL Server Analysis Services has “Log on as a service” permissions. This permission may be affected by group policies. For more information on permissions required, please see the following article:

Thanks for reply
I definitely have the domain account setup as 'logon as a service'.
This same domain account is setup as logon account for services such as 'sql server analysis services'
This domain account has a strong password.
I checked the password with a microsoft strong password test webpage they provide.
I also made the domain account a member of : SQLServerMSASUser${MACHINE NAME}$MSSQLSERVER.
The purpose of this group is :
"Members in the group have the required access and privileges to be assigned as the logon account for the associated instance of SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services."
Still doesn't work though
Any other ideas?
I was thinking is there any diagnostics or tracing I can turn to get more information on what exactly the problem is?
Do you think the event viewer will get me any info?
Is there any config files I should update to get more trace info?

One think to note about my installation.
I'm using a VM server.
I noticed some threads where people talk about having problems using VM servers.
I'm wondering would this be related to the problem I'm getting?
Anyone aware of issues related to VM server installations and how to work around them?

Is the VM machine part of the domain ?
I mean the VM itself not the VM server ?
If so can you leave the domain and re-join it again ?
Also make sure you know the local machine Administrator user name and password

On the System Properties of Control Panel (Computer Name tab) you can join a a workgroup and then rejoin the domain.

However I still get that same error message when I try to install powerpivot integrated with sharepoint.

fájate que hoy me paso lo mismo, no aceptaba ninguna cuenta de dominio, pero lo solucione, no instalar con la cuenta de administrador local, inicia sesión con la cuenta de dominio misma que deberás colocar en analysis services y veras que instalas sin problemas. <o:p></o:p>

So you say you needed to logon as the domain user when setting up powerpivot?
Am I correct?
I presume this domain user was a member of the administrators group on the server?
What I'm doing is logging on as the domain account and this same domain account is in the administrators group on the server.
When you initially did the installation what were you logged on as?
Were you just a local admin user?

No this issue is not resolved
Summary of what I did so far to setup power pivot and power view.
Follow Microsoft Instructions
I got microsoft install instructions at :

In these instructions I’m following scenario 1 which is documented in instructions.
Scenario 1 is described as :
Install the Power View and PowerPivot Infrastructure on New Single Windows Server 2008 R2 Computer that is a Domain Member
I’ve got access to VM server running which is a domain member
Server is : VM-350B-EF54.nam.nsroot.net
On this server I’ve installed the following in accordance with MS instructions.
- Installed SQL server 2012 DB engine and analysis services
- Installed Sharepoint 2010
- Installed sharepoint 2010 sp1
I was in the process of installing PowerPivot for sharepoint and I get to the step where I need to specify a domain account for SQL server analysis services for power pivot.
My domain account is rejected . See below the error.
The credentials you provided for analysis services service are invalid. To continue, provide a valid account and password for analysis services service.
I've tried different domain member accounts but it makes no difference
Any ideas?

Daniel's solution works all right.
What you have to do is set up a new domain account and make that a member of the domain admin group.
Cancel the current installation and log back using the new domain admin account. Once you get to the Server Configuration screen, type the new domain account inside the SQL Service Analysis Services account name field (password included).
That will let you proceed to the next screen. I pretty much changed all the accounts on the server configuration screen to be the same (not recommended by ms). Btw, I'm installing sql 2012 within a Hyper V server 2008 which is also a PDC (again not recommended by the MS gurus), overall the virtual server 2008 is quite responsive.
Heck, I'm testing for fun and kicks, -Windows 8, Hyper V, rdp, Visual Studio 2012, SQL2012, and all the new ms goodies, pretty cool when out of all this "serious" stuff you can always relax and bottom left click to get the goofy metro screen.
Thus far XP has proven to be a mediocre implementation in Hyper V and I'm still trying to force fit W95 and W98 but for some reason the cabs will not read as opposed to the smooth setup using virtual server within W7.
