    Have a great day !

       I am using Win 7 Home premium edition 32 bit , also I have Win XP as virtual machine , I want to install SQL server 2008 r2 Enterprise on my laptop , I searched a lot for download link and I couldn't find it , I found only Express download, also I found links for SP1 & SP2 , but when I installed them

    I got only support files not the official version, please I need your help to provide me with a link to download 2008 r2 enterprise with management tools.

    I want to use SQL agent, so can I download Express edition and get SQL agent ?

    Hi,

    SQL agent is not a feature of Express edition, so to use sql agent you need to use any of this SKUs

    1. Developer ( You can only use this in DEV or QA )
    2. Wrokgroup
    3. Standard
    4. Enterprise

    Now, on your machine if you don't have any production use you can buy developer edition. Also, there is an enterprise evaluation edition with 180 day validity. You can download this from here.

    Then you can buy the enterprise license form Microsoft store and upgrade the edition if needed.

    Hi,

       Thanks for your kind reply, I would like to download evaluation version , but I read in System requirement that :

    Supported Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2

      So can I download it on Win 7 Home Premium ?

    SQL Server 2008 R2 setup fails on Windows 7

    I see folks tried installing on Windows 7 & getting some issues so it is worth a shot.

    But having said that as you would know that evaluation copy is a test version of Entreprise Edition & Windows 7 is supported post Standard edition in full-version/production environment. Hardware and Software Requirements for Installing SQL Server 2008 R2.

    I have SQL Server 2008 R2 developer edition running on windows 7 basic , haven't faced any issues with installation or any features ,  beware there will be issues with BIDS if you install 2012 on top of it .If the SQL agent is the main thing your looking for you should probably try replacing it with Batch files and a windows task scheduler.
