The software deployment status reports that my clients need software ("computer needs software" - yellow warning), but when I open the report all packages that I deployed were successfully installed.   I have waited a few weeks to se if the status changes, but it doesn't. I would appreciate any ideas what couold have caused this and how to solve it.

    Hello,

Did you deploy any software package for uninstall? If yes, delete the package and the clients will show normal status.

This is known issue of SCE 2007.

    Thanks,

    Hi Yog
sorry, I did not see that you posted a possible solution. Yes I did deploy uninstall packages.
I will do as recommended and post an update next week.
    Thanks

I removed the approval for uninstall of all relevant packages, and now the software update status is OK!

Thank you for sharing this tip. Now I am able to monitor software deployment a lot easier.

    Thanks again.
Yes, I do have another question.

I deploy Office 2007 using SCE2007 to a dynamic group of clients. When a new client is added to the group which has Office 2007 installed allready, the package is downloaded anyway but fails to install (repeatedly). Shouldn't SCE detect that the software is installed allready?

    Hello sewellia,

Glad to see you again. However, as the new report issue you mentioned is different from the one discussed in this current thread, we'd recommend that you start up a new thread for it.

We generally focus on one topic in one thread because in this way it will be better for other community members to participate in the discussion, and to search/find specific answers more efficiently in the future.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

For non-MSI application, even if the application is already installed, the application will be downloaded and offered once.

Here is a similar issue for your information:
