Most clients appear in BDD - but not yet contacted and health status shows Error
- Hi,
we have just rebuild our SCE 2007 server again and everthing was going fine up until we we tried to discover the client machines again - they were doescovered but when we tried to push the agents down again it would hand in "Installation in progress."
this turned out to be a duplicate SPN issue which we have resolved - all the client machines were then found automatically and added to Agents managed as they all still had the agents installed from the previous installation of SCE
I noticed the the SCE managed computers group "SCE_MG" is not adding the computer names in there
I also noticed the in SCE in the computers pane - none of the clients have been contacted yet
what do I need to do here
Regards

- Hi,
I have actually managed to resolve the issue - well half of it anyway - I got rid of the "installation in progress" error by removing a couple of Duplicate SPN's
So Agents are found and showing in "Managed agents" but when I check the computers pane the computers show "computer has not been contacted yet"
the re-install was just wiping the SCE server clean and re-building it from scratch - computers are bieng added to the AD SCE mananaged computers group.
The computers can ping the SCE server - the registry entries for the WSUS/SCe are correct on client and I have followed all the troubleshooting in this blog but no luck

- Hello Nazta,
How did you uninstall and reinstall the SCE Server? Please post more details so we can understand this issue more clearly.
The "Installation in Progress" pending management type indicates that the agent was installed, but has never successfully connected to the management server. In this state, the Approve command is unavailable by design (because it's a push install) and the only options are to reject the agent or fix the communication problem. General connectivity problems can cause this, however the most likely cause is a Kerberos error.
Please read the article below for more information and solution:

Hope it helps,

- Hi Nazta,
Gald to hear the "Installation in Progress" pending problem resolved.
Some general netwok problems can cause "not yet contacted" issue. Did you use any Firewall or Proxy server which has no exceptions for SCE server? If yes, try to disable them for a test.
Thanks,
