    Hello,

I'm trying to install service pack 1 for Sytem Center Essentials. I already removed the 3 packs as desribed in the download details, but I am unable to complete the setup. The log is showing me:

    Hello Roland,

Thanks for updating. It seems like the Database or Reproting Service got a problem. So the data cannot be accessed.  Is there any problem when you using the SCE RTM?

If possible, I'd like to suggest re-installing a new SCE 2007 SP1 server. The steps to perform a re-installation are as follows:

    1. Un-install SCE from Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programes.

    2. Remove SCE SCP:

    a. On the Domain Controller, open ADSI Edit (Start - Run - Adsiedit.msc).

    b. Right click on the “Domain” tree and select New - Query.

    c. In the New Query window, enter the following:

    Name: SCESCP Query
    Root of Search: <domain name>
    Query String: (&(objectCategory=serviceConnectionPoint)(cn=SCESCP))

    d. Click on OK.

    e. Expand the Domain node in ADSI Edit and select the “SCESCP Query” node.

    f. A “CN=SCESCP” object should be listed in the right-hand pane, with a distinguished name of“CN=SCESCP,CN=<ComputerName>,CN=<OUName>,DC=<DomainName>,DC=com”. This tells us which computer account has the SCE SCP.

    g. Delete the SCESCP object from the “SCESCP Query” node in ADSI Edit.

    3. Delete the key in registry

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\System Center Essentials
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Operations Manager

    4. Restart the server and perform the fresh installation of SCE with SP1.

    Thanks,

    Hello Roland,

What is the version of your SCE Server before upgrading? Upgrading to System Center Essentials 2007 Service Pack 1 from System Center Essentials 2007 RC1, Beta 2, or an evaluation copy of Essentials 2007 is not supported.

If it is the RTM version, please follow the article below to prepare and update the SCE Server to see if it helps:

System Center Essentials 2007 SP1 Upgrade Guide
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc339466.aspx

If the issue still exists, please also check the "%temp%SCEupgradesetup#.log" and open Event Viewer -> "Operations Manger” to see if any error message logged.

    Thanks,
    Yog Li - MSFT

    3. Delete the key in registry

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\System Center Essentials
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Operations Manager

    4. Restart the server and perform the fresh installation of SCE with SP1.
