SCE 2010 Plus w/ SA - Is the upgrade to DPM 2012 covered?

Considering the query is about licensing, you can call 1-800-426-9400 (select option 4), Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. (PST) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist. You can also visit Microsoft Volume Licensing Site http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/ to find the contact information.

Okay, so today's SC announcements are clearly why the licensing rep couldn't answer anything last week. I just used the web chat on the "Private Cloud" page to chat with a MS rep, and I'm told that SCE2010 Plus licensing, with SA, will be automatically upgraded to SC2012, the same as the System Center "Suite" licensing will be. Is that correct?
I'm curious how this will work. The licensing datasheet doesn't seem to mention SCE anywhere on it. Since SCE 2010 and DPM both licensed per physical computer and didn't require a license for each hyper-v guest, it looks like it could be pretty good, or really bad, for those of us with a lot of virtual servers.

Wednesday, January 25, 2012 3:41 PM It sounds like at this point MS still isn't sure what will happen with SCE. I tried to call licencing back to get some specifics, but they said they hadn't been told anything about SCE 2010 either way.

It seems like Microsoft is planning to let their customers in the cold.
First, they don't update SCE ever. Plenty of SCOM 2007 R2 hotfixes never ported to SCE 2010. No support for dynamic memory. Nothing. SCE is, as it looks like, an abandoned product.
Now, they don't seem to know how to honor their SA without losing money in the process. As they clearly don't plan to build a new product (the same applies for SCVMM workgroup), what would they do now to SCE customers?! Give them free SC 2012?! Pff. Better
let their customers in the cold and keep their old, un-updated product artificially on their product lists as it was current, so they can say "we don't provide an upgrade because your product is still current".What will customers do with SCE and the soon to be released Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 incl. Hyper-V 3.0? Wait forever for a roadmap?!
I'm extremelly disapointed with Microsoft on this one.

Now that win8 and server 2012 is avail sce 2010 is useless. detects them as windows xp64 and Server 2003 x64..
