SCE 2010 RTM installation problem - Virtualization management client failed

  Thank you for your post.

   

  Please check the SCEVMMClient.log. It should contain more detail information about this failure. You can find the log file via one of the following locations:

   

  Windows Server 2008: %LOCALAPPDATA%\SCE\LOGS

   

  Windows Server 2003: <%USERPROFILE%\LOCAL SETTINGS\Application Data>\SCE\LOGs

  If you would like to have us check the log file with you, you can upload the log file to this workspace:

  Hi,

   

  Thank you for uploading the log files. I just found “Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 Administrator Console (x64)” has been installed.

   

  If the issue persists, please also check other log files or upload to us.

  Hi,

  I try to install on another server, but I got the same error like before. I upload all logs from current installation. Again installation failed on virtualization agent.

  I had the same Error. Virtualization management client failed under install of SCE 2010. After reinstall of the server and it still failed i Finally found the answer. My folder had a "-" it is name!!

  Insted of installing from A DVD, I copied the whole DVD to a folder from where i installed SCE 2010. The folder had a "-" in the name. When u get the error msg u can actual see that it thinks the "-" is a "\" under the install.  

  So my folder "System Center Essentials 2010 - DVD" was changed to "System Center Essentials 2010\DVD". So ofc it cound not find vmmclient.mst because it was looking for a folder that did not excits. 

  I installed SCE 2010 on a windows server 2008 R2 standard edition. But since i come from Denmark I have danish as default keyboard. Havent tried with english as default keyboard and laungage. After I removed the "-" in the folder name it installed without any errors.

  Thanks a lot for this - I had the same problem (virtualization management client failed); I copied the contents of the DVD onto the local server desktop and named it something along the lines of SCE - 2010.

  After reading this, I changed the name to SCE2010; lo and behold, the installation was a success!

  I get an VMM Client install error 212. (SCE Installer fails at installing Virtual Machine Client Installation).

   

  I have re-downloaded and burned install media and I still get the error that states "configuration data for this installation is corrupt".

   

  What is corrupt, and how can it be fixed?

  I have had exactly the same issue and found that the SCVMM Client was erroring with 212, there was a registry key blocking the installation, which I found using ProcessMonitor

  The key I found and renamed was :-

  HKCR\Installer\UpgradeCodes\150ddf3e98a3eff44bd2188aff1c8948 with a value of d53bd940b8a4ffd49afe7d411268dbdf
