Hello
I work in a SMB
I would like to install SCE2010 on Win2008R2 server
During installing SCE2010 the wizard ask installing SQL2008 full product with reporting services
Unfortunately I don't have the budget for licensing SQL2008 with 100 user Cal's
I would like to install SCE2010 on SQL2008 Express with the reporting option I don't need Virtual management
Is it possible to implement SCE210 workaround with sql express
How can it be done?

Hi micwe22,
I have SCE2010 installed on a Win2008R2 server using SQLExpress 2008R2.
SQLExpress 2008 R2 has reporting services and I use the reporting function of SCE without issue.
SCE and SQL are installed on the same server (and I think it is required to install on same server when using Express), although the DB is on a different physical drive to the OS to help performance a little. You should install SQL before installing SCE, then during the SCE install point it to your new, empty DB.
See this link: SQL EXPRESS to download 2008 R2.
Hope that helps!

Hello Clarke and thanks for replying
I download SQLExpress 2008R2 and install it
When trying to install SCE2010 wizard say I don't have Reporting services
Which SQLExpress 2008R2 Version include Reporting services?
Do I need to download SQL Server® 2008 Express with Advanced Services?
From this link http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=1842
This Version is not R2
So what SQLExpress 2008R2 should I use? -

This is the version I have used.
It includes the reporting services, although you need to specify to install that feature when running through the setup
Hope that's what you need. -

As far as I know, there is an installation package for SQL Server 2008 Express Edition included in the SCE installation disk. Please perform the installation referring to the following guide:How to Install System Center Essentials 2010 on a Single Server

Thanks.
