    Hi there

    I have Server 2008 R2 SP1 Standard with SCE 2010 installed.

Yesterday i decided to install the Windows Deployment Role but had to remove The Windows Service Update Service Role.

After removing the WSUS Role and installing WDS i rebooted and after that i could not launch the SCE console anymore.

Removing WDS and adding WSUS did not resolve my issue.

Every time  I start the console i get the error stated below:

    Date: 19-3-2013 16:06:35
    Application: System Center Essentials
    Application Version: 7.0.2432.1
    Severity: Error
Message: System Center Essentials has encountered an error.

System.InvalidOperationException: Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'.
The request failed with the error message:

    Hello Kareem,

The Windows Service Update Service Role is a very important component in SCE 2010 server. You cannot start SCE 2010 with WSUS uninstalled. So this behaviour is by design.

The solution could be a system restore or a reinstallation of the SCE server.

    Hello Yog Li,

    Thanks for your Reply.

I had already tried that options, unfortunately the result stayed the same.

I will remove the complete sce installation and reinstall everything from step one, and hope to get it up and running again.

    regards,

    kareem
