    Help! I must have changed something because the following error occurs when I try to generate an update report:

    Date: 12/27/2007 7:48:38 AM
    Application: System Center Essentials
    Application Version: 6.0.1251.0
    Severity: Error
    Message: Cannot initialize report.

    Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportServerException: Logon failed. (rsLogonFailed) ---> Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportServerException: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007052E)
       --- End of inner exception stack trace ---
       at Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ServerReport.GetExecutionInfo()
       at Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ServerReport.GetParameters()
       at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Internal.UI.Reporting.Parameters.ReportParameterBlock.Initialize(ServerReport serverReport)
       at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Internal.UI.Console.ReportForm.SetReportJob(Object sender, ConsoleJobEventArgs args)
    Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportServerException: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007052E)

    What account is being accessed? If I knew I would be able to work on the logon problem . . .

    Hi dkon,

    Based on research and other similar cases, this issue may occur if the account details specified for the execution account were invalid or the password change for the RS Execution Account potentially was causing the error.

    By correctly configuring the Execution Account in the Reporting Services Configuration Tool we should be able to successfully access reports.

    1)      Open Start->Programs->Microsoft SQL Server 2005->Configuration Tools->Reporting services configuration. Choose the new instance you created and then click "Connect".

    2)      Follow the wizard to finish all the configurations one by one listed on the left pane. Please pay attention to configure the last "Execution Account" item.

    Thanks and hope this helps.
