Unable to open JOB Activity Monitor in SQL SERVER 2008 R2(SP1)

Hi Everybody,
i want to see list of ETL Jobs running in DB. when i click on Job activity Monitor, it showing error "cannot show requested dialog".
i am using SQL SERVBER VERSION
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP1) - 10.50.2500.0 (X64) Jun 17 2011 00:54:03 Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.1 <X64> (Build 7601: Service Pack 1) (Hypervisor) .
please help on this regard.

Thanks for the reply.
I am using Citrix. in Citrix they installed SQL server and t given permissions to DB Access for my credentials.

would you don't mind... can you explain detailly..
what i have to tell to ADMIN or PM?
what is meant by advance option ?
what is meant by latest service package? is it 2012 or something....

If you have installed only SSMS BASIC tools, then Activity monitor will not be available.
Microsoft distributes fixes in service packs. Service packs keep a product current. They include hotfixes and fixes to issues that are reported through the Microsoft SQL Server community. Service packs may also include issues that our support organization feels have to be addressed. The most common metrics that are applied for triage of those items are customer call volume and customer satisfaction scores. These updates and components are conveniently bundled for easy downloading.
Service packs are cumulative. Each new service pack contains all the fixes that are in previous service packs, together with any new fixes. You do not have to install a previous service pack before you install the latest service pack.Please refer the below link:
