OS deployed through SCVMM not replicating in DNS, deployment job fails
-
Friday, April 13, 2012 8:26 PMI am new to work in SCVMM. I am facing problem in OS deployment on baremetal client through SCVMM. The OS deploys successfully on bare metal client and client joins to domain without any issues. But the client IP which is assigned through DHCP, is not getting replicated in DNS because of which OS deployment job fails. I can see the client entry under computers in Active Directory. Please help me on this issue, i am an novice in SCVMM.

Hello PeerMJ,
If you follow the instructions and tips in the following link , you should be successfull.

Tip #1: If your installing WDS on a machine that is running DNS services (a domain controller perhaps), you need to apply the fix mentioned in KB977512. Without this I consistently saw PXE-E32: TFTP open timeout in our lab. This is due to DNS using all the available ports in the WDS range. Once I applied the registry fix mentioned in the KB the issue immediately cleared up.Once you have a WDS server configured you’ll need to add it to SCVMM. You’ll also need to make sure you have a working DHCP server on that segment (PXE requires DHCP). You can optionally setup an IP address pool in the VMM logical networks setting if you want the final deployed host to automatically set a static IP vs pulling one from DHCP.
Sincerely,
Murat Demirkiran
