VMM 2012 Rebuilding VM - Cannot use the same VM name as before

Environment:
VMM 2012 running on a Windows 2008 Standard R2 VM, hosted on physcial host with Cluster SAN storage running Windows 2008 R2 Datacenter SP1.
Issue:
I trashed a VM and am now trying to rebuild it via the VMM console. The build wizard completes, but the build job doesnt start. I have confirmed that all the VM files were removed from cluster storage, so the traces of the old VM was removed. I can rebuild it using the Hyper-V console, but this is not how we expect VMM to function. There should at least be a Job Failed status. So my question is how do I trace where this stale record of the old VM is still residing on the physical host, or how what do I need to do on the VMM server for it to realise that the VM does not exist anymore?
