SCVMM cannot live migrate a machine on Windows 2012 hyper-v

hi folks
i'm testing out scvmm2012 and windows 2012
i can storage migrate a machine but not live migrate
when i try to migrate i get an 12700 error with a further error code
0x8009030e or 0x8009030d depending on which authentication protocol i choose in hyper-v live migrations settings
the error seems to be around credentials, the 0x8009030d code specifies : the credentials supplied to the package were not recognized. have i missed some setting / configuration in scvmm ?
thanks for your help
paul

Assuming that your Server 2012 Hyper-V machines are domain joined and clustered (and have migration enabled) you should be good to go.
I don't believe that SCVMM 2012 SP1 supports live migration without a cluster (which Server 2012 Hyper-V can do). I don't know if they will but I don't think either of the CTP builds can do this.

Hi Thanks for your reply
i have the hyper-v hosts setup in a failover cluster and if i go to a host i can move a vm from that host to the second host i just can't seem to do it through scvmm
the version of scvmm is sp1 ctp 2, its the preconfigured vhd available from microsoft.i will check the domain membership etc again and make sure they are all in the domain but i don't think thats the issue
anyone any other suggestions or even where i should look logs etc ?
thanks

I'm using a test windows 2003 domain, could it be to do with constrained delegation ?
as in the following
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/taylorb/archive/2012/03/20/enabling-hyper-v-remote-management-configuring-constrained-delegation-for-non-clustered-live-migration.aspx
maybe scvmm 2012 is not compatible with 2003 domain
anyone any further insight ? would be greatly appreciated
Thanks Guys

Friday, August 10, 2012 5:34 PMI am running into this same issue also. I am running Windows Server 2012 RC Active Directory, Windows 2012 RC Hyper-V, and SCVMM 2012 SP1 CTP2. I do not have a cluster or shared storage, so the VHDs are being copied during the live migration. All source and target Hyper-V hosts and SCVMM are joined to the same domain. I am using Kerberos as the Live Migration protocol and I have configured the appropriate KCD (CIFS and Virtual Machine Migration Service) between the hosts. I am able to Live Migrate with no problem using the Hyper-V Manager console, but when I try to migrate the same guest VM between the same hosts using SCVMM, I receive an error 12700 with sub-error 0x8009030e. Is this just not working yet in the CTP? Anyone else have any insight? I'd like to know if anyone has gotten this to work with CTP 2.

I don't believe that the CTP release support the "shared nothing" live migration models yet.
Wait for Beta of SCVMM 2012 SP1 for more feature support and still more in the final (that is just the way it rolls).
The first CTP releases simply manage Server 2012 and basic Netowrk Virtualization. There are a ton more features to support which means a ton more code to write and test. All new.

Shared-Nothing Live Migration is working in VMM 2012 Sp1 ctp2. But you'll have to have every node you want to live migrate between located in the same host group in VMM.
And also, make sure that you have configured constrained delegation in AD on every hyper-v server that should join the migration party.
(and of course, enable live migration at the host level too).
