    I have been trying to setup SCVMM 2008 R2 on fresh install windows server 2008 r2 with all updates.
    And getting an error:

    Description:
      Stopped working

    Problem signature:
      Problem Event Name:    CLR20r3
      Problem Signature 01:    setupvm.exe
      Problem Signature 02:    1.0.523.0

    I have 2 network cards;Setup static ip setting for first one and disable second.

    but have not found any records in my hosts file.
    if I ping machine name from one I am getting IPV6 address, from remote machines it is ipv4.

    It seems that this is .NET 2.0 runtime problem.

    acording to article on microsoft http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc764327.aspx
    you need to do additional configuration if SQL server is on remote host not in case of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP3.

    Have the Setup Wizard install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition locally on the VMM server. You can have VMM 2008 Setup install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP2 and the VMM 2008 R2 Setup install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP3



    I am not able to attach a pictures,
    but normally It stoppes on step Windows Automated Installation Kit.
    I downloaded it and installed.
    Now it stopes on step "Virtual Machine Manager Server"
    Configuration of Virtual Machine Manager failed.

    I have exactly the same setup and exactly the same error.

    Error comes when granting access to database.

    did you find the solution?

    I had the same error message as above, turns out the Windows Automated Installation kit installation CAB file was corrupted on the disc. I had to mount the  ISO and copy the WAIK folder to the server and installed which allowed the installation to continue.

    I am getting the same exact error.  I am trying to install SCVMM 2008 R2 SP1 on a server that is configured with Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1.  I created a DVD from an ISO image I downloaded from MS Volume Licensing.  Full Event logs are:
