This little program will allow you to analyse the index.dat files, showing the activity of users, e.g. who looked at which website and when, and which documents were viewed. Download (in the left pane) the free version of Index.Dat Analyzer, here http://www.systenance.com/indexdat.php
To run it, click the drop down box alongside Location and then select a specific index.dat file to interrogate. Now select a relevant heading, e.g. click ‘Accessed’ to sort the entries by date/time. Also, there is a filter to narrow down your search.
To include all index.dat files, click the green plus sign and click the Tab ‘Search for index.dat files’. Click Select Folder, click on the C:\ drive, click OK and now click Search then Add. These now appear in the drop-down box alongside Location.
Embarrassing website visits can be deleted by putting a tick in the box alongside them and clicking the red X above.
