    I have Microsoft XP Professional installed on Windows Vista Home Premium.  It has worked fine for the last 5-6 years.  Recently, I tried opening a Word .doc file and the program will open for 1 second and then close automatically without any error message.  I tried opening my other Office applications and they do the same thing.  I ran the Officer repair function in Control Panel and tried running it from the Installation CD.  In both instances, the Repair function just stops without any errors and never completes.  I have not tried to uninstall/reinstall because I wanted to make sure I would not lose the files I have on my hard drive.  Has anyone else had this issue?  How was it resolved?  Thanks!
